"For I have promises to
keep
And miles to go
Before I sleep"
These words of Robert
Frost could very well describe a courageous Sioux Indian woman. Her
husband killed by a band of "Dog Ribs", she fled with her two children.
After nine days travel she was stopped by snow, cold, and hunger.
She killed her horse for food and remained snowbound for 57 days.
Then after 15 more days travel she and her children reached a camp of Walla
Wallas. |
